About Us

New StickerAbout Us: Prehistoric Soul took root 550 million years ago when the first organisms in the sea started to predate on others. Over time, the fish populated our waters, both fresh and salt, and there were hunters of these fish that developed a sense and knack for catching them. The battle to catch these fish runs deep in the DNA of all organisms that love to fish… you know who you are… No body of water is too remote if it could be accessed. No fish is safe when you grab your tackle and head down to the water’s edge. A fishing addiction is what we have. Obsessive and sickness are just some of the words used to describe this type of angler from people who will never understand what it means to be afflicted with the fishing bug. We know it goes all the way back to the roots of the primal hunter… your prehistoric soul.
You just have to see a body of water and are suddenly transformed into a day dream of reeling in some monster fish created by your imagination and know it really is out there for you to catch.

Prehistoric Soul is currently based out of San Diego and is tailored to the Big Game beach fisherman, but has no limits if a fish swims in a body of water near you. Variety is the spice of life and no two bodies of water are identical when it comes to fishing. Your fellow fishing addicts would love for you come on board and share your stories and pictures where ever you may fish. If this sounds like you and need to get, or share, your fix, welcome to Prehistoric Soul.

I hope you enjoy the website and find all of the information helpful and useful. If you can help, please support the website through your donations. The proceeds will go to basic costs of the website server fees and other operational costs that come along with the website. Any excess funds will be used to purchase SWAG for giveaways and free promotional products. Currently, I am covering the cost of everything but with your help, we could continue to offer this educational resource to all of the anglers and outdoorsmen of Southern California. The biggest donors/contributors every month will be honored on the front page of the website where you will be able to advertise something of your choice (Your business or whatever you choose to placed as a billboard for an entire week as the Top News.

Thank you for your continued support.

Surf fishing in Southern California for many anglers down here usually involve small bass rods and light line.  There are a few who target something a little bigger and badder that swim our surf and can test your tackle as well as your back. For years my friend Don up in LA would try to […]

The Bizarre & Beautiful

It never fails that if you get out fishing long enough, you’ll undoubtedly run across something you’ve never seen before… at least in maybe real life.  Whether you catch, snag or just find something interesting, it’s worthy of a picture to share with fellow fishermen. I’m going to primarily keep this a “Fish Porn” type […]

Blue Fillets

Lingcod — a member of the greenling family — isn’t the only West Coast species to turn up with blue-green meat. Its cousins, the rock greenling and the kelp greenling, are sometimes tinted turquoise, as is an unrelated sculpin called the cabezon, which shares the same habitat. Though usually white-hued like halibut or rockfish, lingcod, […]
