When you are surf fishing with large chunks of meat on the end of the hook, you sometimes don’t know what you are going to catch. The style of shark fishing in southern California is generally smaller sized gear compared to the shark guys on other coasts around the world, but big halibut, bass and other game fish fall prey to the chunked bait. We usually bring down a lighter long rod to cast out artificials when the bass bite heats up and here Giovanna shows off her beautiful catch while shark fishing with here boyfriend, Ramon this night.
Be sure to read up on their adventures by clicking the link below. This is the 4th calico of this quality I’ve seen in the last year off the beach with many 17 to 18 inch bass just a common occurrence. Calico and Sand bass rule the skinny water when the sun goes down and end up always checking their tails frequently as the local grinners are usually right behind ready to make an easy meal out of them..
