Got a nastygram from transportation services at work. Had to get my medical card ASAP. It expired last Saturday.
Took the day off, got my physical, waited to turn it in at DMV. 30 minute wait to get to the line. 45 minutes in line to get my number. 20 minutes after that, I'm done.
Had to salvage the day so I hit the lake. Turns out the stocking truck is due any minute.
Watched them unload, grabbed a spot and waited for the fish to swim my way.
Pelicans and cormorants got there share.
Took about an hour and then it was on. Got 4 on bait. Bait a rod, cast out, bit before I could bait the next rod.
With 4 on the stringer, I switched to a jig. Smashed the barb to make the release easy and undercover.
Every cast was a fish. Every one. For half an hour until my wife called.
Where are you? Dinner and c*cktails tonight with our friends.
Put number 5 on the stringer to make my limit and hit the road.

Now that sounds like a great way to make up for a trip to the doc and DMV!

Bad time to start. They switched hatcheries and instead of getting 2-7 pound trout planted, they are all 3/4-1 pound trout. The big ones on 2# test were fun!

If you fish Poway, go a day after the plant. Fish are pretty frayed on the day of the plant. Also try to fish before the sunrises. All of my last bite came before sunrise. Mini-jigs are the way to go.
