: Father's Day - Mission Bay (6/17)
: Latimeria June 17, 2018, 05:21:18 PM
My plan was to meet up with Dave and Roger down at the bay and do a little shoreline bass fishing.  I got down a few hours earlier than them and tried an old spot for 1 bass.  I decided to just pack it in and head over to the meeting grounds.  First 5 casts... 5 fish...  Caught fish almost non-stop for the first hour before calling Dave to get his ass down ASAP.

Just by the time Dave got there, I had 24 spotties, 1 turd roller, 1 small halibut and a wing hooked bat ray.  Nothing huge, but not a whole lot of dinks either.

Dave had 8 or more by the time I was leaving all on the underspin blade, while I had 32 bass, a halibut and a bat ray.
I also had more swings and misses than I care to say, but it was wide open fishing.  I had one real hit on the swimmy that was a much bigger "something", but it just popped off the hook.  Not sure what happened there.  Roger was still trying for his first fish and was using some crazy colored big Kalins grub....  Oh well, go big or go home I guess!

Happy Father's Day to all the Dads out there!

Hit the surf for some light tackle action. Got a couple yfc a couple perch and a small bean.

Things were starting to look better as the tide filled in but my feet were killing me.

The light rod's been calling me, especially after 3 trips north with the long rods for ZERO  :(

I leave the light rods for making bait at the pier. Great numbers though!
