My all time favorite set up is my 12' Penn Prevail that Longcast Joe sent me after I blew a guide out on my Sealine.  Combined with an old school Penn 9500SS that set up was bullet proof.  Not the most elegant, lightest, or longest casting set up, but absolutely reliable.  I landed all my favorite catches with it.  104" Sevengill, 50"+ Bat Ray, and 50 lb. BSB.  I sure do miss fishing for big game, but it's warming up here and I'll be out chasing freshwater fish soon.  I'll keep posting my reports for that stuff here.
Miss you guys!

Bat Fight aint the same without you and Fam Chad!

Thanks for the plug Verne...Sounds like VC is staying off hot this year looking at you and Chads trips.
I guess it’s time to dust off my sharkin rods and get out there again with them. I’ve had the lighter gear stuck to my hands for the past year but I hear the big sticks calling me back....

Is it considered bycatch when you're actually targeting bycatch?  ;D :P
Good question...
Sooo , not allowed? It was a night time catch though 😃

OK, The June Contest is here!!!!!

Couple of questions about -Shoreline based caught only.  Rod has to be affixed into a sand spike on the beach or bay shoreline.  No pier sharks/rays.
So this basically would mean bait only, nothing caught on lures allowed?...unless your reteiving a swimbait while the rod is in a holder?

Thanks Verne, my pleasure...most of you know it’s just as big of a thrill once you grab hold of these things as it is to have them on your line but I ended up taking that to the next level with out really thinking about it. Just my sandhand insticts kicking in I guess. My hands and wrist are a little messed up this morning from hanging on to that tail with all my might as it tried to make a last run and then started rolling but I’ll heal....what a rush! 🤣😝

This guy is so in....not only grinmers on his first couple tries but with what might be my favorite line ever of all time! “I got written up last fall for filleting in the quad so this time did it in the shower stall instead”  ;D 8) Rotflmfao!....and the best part is he was dead serious, not trying to be funny.
Your in bro, welcome to our fraternity

Friggand chunk of ray, huh?  Wow! Congrats Chad!

Tomorrow I plan on getting the shark list updated for sure!
A friggand chunk of Bat Ray...hope you don’t mind me speaking on this Chad...but the one he got at bat fight day also hit a ray chunk, amidst 4 other rods soaking mack. 5 rods soaking mack got snubbed by 7s prior to the ray chunk being cast on one of them that day.
Knowing that,I couldn’t help to wonder what would have been the results if a ray chunk had been cast out as well instead of soaking exclusively Mack’s in the countless previous sessions over the past few years.  ???

I’ll tell you what sucks is the surf forecast for the next week. It’s supposed to be building to 7.5’ by morning. A little relief over the weekend if you call 3-4 relief then back to over 7’ on Monday. 😠
