...but this is more like it

we caught a few of these as well as a ton of browns

But the red vermillion and coppers came on strong towards the end of the day.  Kevin (the1luder) with a typical grade red.

One of mine

Me with another one.  It was that wide open.  LOL

Thanks fellas for helping me test out the ride.

David - safe travels to the East and best of luck with the new endeavor.  See you in Dec and again for next year's charter.

Ron/Kevin - see you guys soon!   8)

Bonus pic from a few weeks back.  Kevin and I hit up our old stomping grounds.  He took big bug honors with a nice 4+ lb critter.  Pictures do this beast no justice, it was a nice'un.

Saltwater Boat Fishing Reports / 2 dayer aboard the PacVoy
« on: September 21, 2014, 08:04:47 PM »
Had the awesome pleasure to fish with Ron (Beandip) and Shari (Beandip's wife) on their annual 2 day charter aboard the fantastic vessel, Pacific Voyager.

Without boring people with the details, we KILLED the YFT.  Fish count says limits (17 anglers for 170 YFT) but I'd say we were significantly higher.

We fished strictly in US waters on both days and tucked into the coves at San Clemente to stay out of the wind.

At one point we had a 2+ hour stop where the fish were biting everything, including 40# straight mono.

highlight of the trip was the show the hammerheads put on.  Incredible sight in US waters.  At one stop we had 3 circling the stern chasing our hooked fish.  I believe the number of hooked tuna casualties was 5 for the trip, including yours truly potential JP contender on day 1.

Many thanks to Ron and Shari for their hospitality, the great group of people that come out year after year and of course Marc Ordonez  and the crew of the Pacific Voyager.

Oh, and the food -- outstanding!  Pics and videos to come.

Lonnie going bendo with Drew following his fish.

My new pet shark.

My parting gift after the visit from Mr. Hammerhead

Shari (beandip's wife) and Elizabeth holding their own at the bow.

Cousins Cindy and Shari.

Cindy going toe to toe with a nicer grade of tuna.

"Smile Cindy!"

Some food porn.  THE BEST grub available in the fleet.

More close ups of Mr. Hammerhead

Yours truly getting photobombed by a sardine.

Mid-day snacks.  Smoked salmon/tuna dip, hot wings, olives, celery and crackers.

My 25# outfit (Graphite USA 80Megamag with Avet SX) in bendo mode after the initial run of a tuna.  You can see San Clemente Island in the background.

Massive, school bus sized patty but nobody was home.

Sunset for day 1

Night action at San Clemente.  Yours truly with one of the plaid bass that wanted to play.  I also added a legal cuda to the count.  Fun times!

More food porn.  NY steak with cornpepper sauce.  Awesome!

The day's catch in a couple of photos

And a quick video --- how to catch a tuna in under 2.5 minutes while trying to keep the Charter Master out of the water.  lol
