You're catching fish, so you know what you have works 8)

A longer 13'-15' rod is nice because it keeps more of your line out of the surf and gives you a longer lever against the fish, but then it also gives the fish a longer lever against you ;D

And I'll admit that I like at least 30lbs of drag in my reels. Had a freaking ray run on one of my smaller reels last week and even though I slowed him way down, the sucker still got more than 150 yards down the beach from me before he stopped. After that it wasn't so much of a fight, more like dragging a wet bag of cement.

Bats have been off the hook at our AO the past couple of weeks. A couple guys are putting 4 plus big'ns on the sand nightly 8)

We had one guy pop his cherry with a 40", and I followed up with a 48". We added a couple of nice Angel rays and called it.

Hit the sand at 7:00PM. Didn't like the look of all the salad on the beach, but it was fishable. Enjoyed a couple of cold ones, watched the sun go down and put a 35" ray on the beach to beat the stripe.

Was hoping for something toothy, but you know how that goes. Beautiful way to spend an evening and break up the work week 8)

Hit the sand Saturday night. 6 guys. We put 4 rays on the beach, 41", 47", 48" and 50" along with a nice leo and some small stuff. Missed a couple of runners. It got a little crazy with all the action, so I'm waiting for all of the video clips/pics to come in before I can make a nice video of them all 8)
