First I want to thank Pinoyfisher for chumming up his bass spot from the night before, since the sharks wanted to snap last night and apparently ate most of his bass.
My days of going straight to fishing after work seem to be numbered with the wife's hectic work schedule, so these days I just meet up late to fish with Steve. Last night, the traffic was light and it took no time to get to Pinoy's bass spot that we were looking to pummel. Waves were not too bad and there was a lot of white wash action which made it hard to tell if there was a lot of weeds or not.
Early into the session and I'm getting grass ball monsters loading up on my line. I stopped to talk to a few people when Steve gets a bass bit and reels in a legal calico. "On the board" he told me, but I didn't take any pics so there is no proof according to forum lawyer, Where's My Beer.
Not long after and I just leave my rig hanging from my rod since I was tired of reeling in grass. Of course, Steve's rod starts bouncing and he's on!
It was a weird fight and I somewhat expected to see a small Black Sea Bass get beached, but NNNoooooooooo. Steve yells "TICK! Another one closer to you!".
Crap...
It was pretty cool to see such a small Soupfin. 63" female Soupie on the mackerel. (Incoming)
I couldn't get myself to cast into the weed garden again, so made a quick move in hopes that the weeds would be lighter in this area. Most likely where Binh would have been set up if he was down fishing with Mike.
A few hours go by and we are thinking of calling it quits. Could this be a repeat of last week when Steve pulled a night tying shark on the last cast?
Well Damn! My rod was bouncing to weeds or a grinner? Grabbed the rod and it was the right kind! BooYaah!!!!
86" male 7-gill on Mack Head at high tide.
We made one more cast and called it the night. Not a bad night getting two target sharks on the beach and increasing the shark list!
One thing though, My ass is tired on Wednesday mornings.... yikes
Thanks for reading and until next tide!
