The Kraken (11/21)
« on: November 22, 2017, 06:02:06 AM »
Hit the beach with Squatch for the weekly Tuesday trip.  Great conditions and hopes were high for a real grinner.
Lot's of critter bites on my rod, but I was using BIG hunks of bonito so all they were doing is sucking the meat out of the skin.  Squatch was using bloodless mack, so his rods were slightly more quiet... that or he saw the bites, but just didn't want to get off the chair unless the rod doubled over.

I finally got a critter to stick and thought it might be a small eel when I slid it up on the sand.  As I grabbed for my line to control the creature, it spread out like something from Predator or Alien!   :o

Well, it was a good sized Kraken!

I was liking the incoming and was very hopeful of a grinner , but Squatch busted off his hook on some reef and was calling it quits.  I saw the writing on the wall, but kept trying to stretch it out until I caved and just called it the night.

Great night fishing even though once again my grinner dry spell continues, but the pendulum is ready to swing back for me anytime now!
hahahahaha

Thanks for reading and have a great Thanksgiving day weekend!

I was just leaving the "Steve left already" bite open for you.

Personally, I thought the best conditions of the night were before we got to the beach.

That octopus is rad!  Must have been interesting getting it unhooked.
I had zero bites last night too.  Just stripped baits.  Pushed it till midnight but for nada.

That would've been eaten by me or used as bait by me.
