OC Grinner Gathering
« on: November 19, 2017, 08:52:27 AM »
I know it's early, but I'm thinking The OC should host an event so Tom doesn't have to do all the work. I'm thinking we could hold it in May before Memorial Day, and call it The OC Grinner Gathering.

We have a perfect little spot in with drive up fishing, fire pits, a lot you can park in without getting hassled for staying past 10 with a beach that's really good for fishing and not much else ;D

We could fish it during the day, and come in heavy. Set up the EzUps, grills, speakers, etc, and really do it right.

Yeah, yeah, I know, everybody is going to learn our "Secret Spot." I'm not afraid. I don't see anybody in San Diego driving past all those beaches to come poach our spot. Heck, most guys in The OC don't have the gear or the motivation to fish it, and I know there aren't a lot of guys that are going to be driving all the way down from LA on a regular basis either.

But it is a really cool spot that is about midway for both LA and SD with tailgate fishing where we could get together, target something serious, grill up some fish tacos, have some beers that wouldn't require Tom to do anything except design a bitchen graphic for the swag ;D

What do you think?

I'm in! The sooner a date is set, the more likely I can go. My leash doesn't stretch out too far ;)

Ditto, just not the wide. Will there be a kayak on hand to haul out baits?

I have a 9/0 on a 160-200# roller guide rod, along with a harness and extras.  That should do it.
You can't catch them from your computer chair.

Just spit balling here but have any of you done a rally race back in the day? Starting Line in SD and finish line in OC.

- 4 Beaches (Must catch a baitfish or 1 hour to move to next beach - You get 2 squid to start)
- 6 Hours to finish course (Grinner must be caught using bait fished during rally)
- 3 Hours to Catch a Grinner after finishing course (****Unless caught on Previous Beach****)

Prizes Ranked:
Fastest Course Finish (Timed)
Largest Grinner
Largest Baitfish
Longest Burn Out

Just throwing it out there. Could be fun.

That sounds like a blast!!
Why not run it all the way up here to VC?
After the smoke clears of course!

Too much work for me. Just tell me where the grinners are at and I'll head there.
