Anybody tried coated fishing wire as a rub leader?
« on: November 27, 2017, 05:27:54 PM »
Has anybody tried using nylon coated wire tied onto braid with an FG knot as a rub leader?

Asking for a friend :-[

No. But, I think if your friend tries it he would want to know if the FG knot would pull the coating off the wire.

I'd worry about the coating stripping off too.
You did give me some ideas to play around with though.  ;)

Don't do it, coated wire does have memory. Have you seen what an eel does to it when it rolls up the line?

Bad idea. Just my 2 cents.
