For those of us without boats, what are you planning to target in the shark off season?

Maybe throw the shark gear, but toss fresh squid instead of macks.  i think that would open up more possibilities to larger finfish.
You can't catch them from your computer chair.

I'll keep throwing out the same, but will usually bring a 2nd rod for squid and downsize the hook to a 6/0 to target the basses, shovels, and hopefully an exotic like a WSB or YT. Considering where I fish, its not completely out of the question.

Let's see who catches the best random summer surf catch... well, I'm at a disadvantage since I'll be mostly boat fishing.

I'm beginning to think those Owner 6/0 mutu light circles are the go to critter rod hook. And I've been getting action on 'dines too, you just have to tie them on with the bait elastic.
Anybody have an emergency beer?

My off season hopefully, will consist of targeting catfish. I hooked up with Big Willie Mays of Amaysing Fishing Bait and Tackle in Lancaster, Ca. He told the catfish were biting at Quail Lake. I only had a two hour window to fish. Unfortunately, I skunked out. Maybe next time.

My time is limited with obligations at home, but I've changed over to the light rod.  The bait is in close and with it are the halibut and barracuda.  YFC are also one of my favorite targets this time of year   ;)

Where is Quail Lake?

Just north of Lake Pyramid, off of the Grapevine!

Used to live in Palmdale right behind the fin and feather club off the 14 @ Ave S. Hit the aqueduct right behind lake Palmdale just before the first set of gates at the power station there. This some of year huge kitties and linesides as well. Drift chicken livers on a bottom bouncing rig and hang on. My best from there was an 18 lb channel and 23 lb striper

Thanks for the tip. I'll have to try that spot. I think I will be heading back out that way this weekend. Did you fish that spot during the early am or evening?

That's a sweet looking Reservoir!  I bet that things has some jumbos in it.

Great pic Dre!  There's a catfish contest going on here!
