Destroyed back
« on: October 10, 2018, 12:08:27 PM »

Your looking at the curve of my spine from front to back. Or visa verse...

The pain from my scoliosis is now unbearable.  Ive got a high tolerance for pain and this just effing sucks.

On work restrictions now and am gona see my primary doc in a couple hours.

All i can think about is if im gona be able to fish comfortably in the future. It already sucks now but just dont want to be any worse.

My life is pretty simple:

Work cuz i have to
Family
Girlfriend
And Fishing

Take away fishing and Fu*k my life...

Pretty stressed out over all this and trying to think positive.

Just venting here i guess.

I hear they can fuse your spine that will correct the curvature and relieve the pain. I hope you have good insurance.

What Verne said! Holy crap. Life would suck if I couldn't fish any more. Hopefully that will never be the case for you.

Thanks for the kind words guys.

My primarary reffered me to a specialist which i will be seeing on the 22nd.  They will let me know the game plan. I believe it will be either a back brace, phyical therapy and exercise or surgery.

Ive done some research and am feeling better about this that i will be able to get through it.

Ive got good insurance and financial support if needed.

Saw the orthopedist a month ago.

Im now on my 4th week of physical therapy (twice a week).

Had an appointment with companies doc this morning to follow up with my slight work restrictions. Told him how i felt and he put me on so many restrictions that im totally useless. No bending , pushing, pulling, climbing latters, and lifting anything over 5lbs.

Gave the paperwork to my boss, he emailed it to the safety supervisor and now im on medical leave of absence. If it was up to me id still be working.

Hopefully i still have insurance. Ill find out tomorrow when im contacted by HR.

I was told ill be eligible for state disability which is ok i guess. Id much rather be busting my ass and earning a check then being home all day doing nothing and getting paid.

Still dont know what im gona do as far as rent and other expenses. Probably pull the 401k  and possibly move in with the gf.

It sucks but whatever, ill survive. I just wanna go fishing and not think about anything .

Ask HR for reasonable accommodation. Maybe not possible, don’t know what you do, but ask.

Hopefully you get squared away with the PT.

Good luck.

Does your company have any disability plans in addition to the state stuff?

Geez Eric that's horrible man. Any chance of wearing the brace to straighten up over the next few years?

I can't imagine the discomfort. Best of luck man. Really feel for you.
