Pat, our friend Tom, and I hit the surf yesterday because the forecast just looked too sweet. Got out around 5PM and even though there was calm surf there was a lot of chopped salad. Fishable but definitely an annoyance. I got the first hit around 6:30, but the silly shark took my sputnik and not the bait. My leader to the sputnik was cut clean, but it  was definitely a takedown on my rod lol.

Those take downs definitely keep us trying for more! I don't want to know where you were at, but were you in San Diego? Trying to get an idea if I should head out tomorrow.

Sometimes Steve and I think they are coming in to check out the bait and run into and/or slightly tangle in the line or leader.  They get spooked and swim away, but usually come back for a second opportunity.

Good work getting out there and giving it a go!  That chopped salad is an annoyance for sure.

Trying to get an idea if I should head out tomorrow.

Conditions are supposed to be deteriorating quickly as the evening gets here.  I think Steve and I are taking the night off from the surf.  This might be your chance to catch up a bit on Steve!  ;D

I've been using "solspot" seems to be more on point.. Less cams though.. But you're right about tomorrow.. Hopefully it'll calm down by next week when I'm able to get back out..

Let me know how it goes.  My app says 2'-7', but the 2-3 will be in the morning.  By 6pm, it supposed to be 5'-6' and up to 7' by 10pm.   Keep us in the loop.

Well sh!t, that's a hell of a lot different from what Surfline is saying. Not worth my efforts.
