Last Cast Skunk-Buster (5/14)
« on: May 15, 2019, 05:46:34 AM »
Surf was up.  Conditions were generally 2-4 with some 5-6 footers rolling in.  The water was clean, but there was the occasional patchy grass/kelp floating by.

Spent a while in the pub catching up before it was our turn to hit the sand as the surfers came off the water.

It was pretty slow, but we did have some minor bites in the next few hours, but nothing committed. I cast out a big old mackerel head.

Last cast designated and I saw another bump in the rod.  Then the line went slack.  I kept reeling trying to find the end when it tightened up.  Just for a split second, I thought it was going to be big, but that feeling went away in a hurry.

I was telling Squatch that I can't remember the last Leopard either of us caught.... well, now I know the last one I caught.

Bigger than a key-chain and smaller than a bread basket.

Decided to call it quits and end on a high(er) note than a goose-egg.

Worth the shot, but it wasn't to be.

I was pretty surprised how fishable it was with that surf forecast
