Fishing with my father
« on: June 25, 2019, 05:01:36 AM »
I've been taking my dad shark fishing since my mother passed, he would sit in a chair and watch. Now with the water warming and the toothy critters all but gone it's back to the light rod. Yesterday I decided to take him with me to the area where the YFC bite has been so good. He insisted on having the handle on the right side of the reel, so I swapped it and off we went. His casting sucked, but about one out of three or four he would wing it about 30 yards. He had a few hits and put one on the wet sand, went to take a picture but it flopped off and swam away. The day ended early when he stepped backwards into a hole and ended up on his butt, water up to his mid chest. All he said was "at least my hat's dry". I can only hope at 94 years old I'll be able to walk the beach and catch a few fish.

Impressive. Nothing worse than a wet hat.

So cool to have your 94 yo dad out there!  Super stoked for you and him enjoying the surf together doing what you love!

Yep, at least his hat is dry!  LOL
You can't catch them from your computer chair.
