Tuesday Sharking.... or Really a Conditions Report (10/29)
« on: October 30, 2019, 06:21:28 AM »
No salad in the water.  Light surge.  Small surf.... perfect conditions.

Not a single bait came back unless it was just stripped mackerel skin.  Bass were a nuisance.  I'm sure Lobster had their fill also.
I had one bite that doubled over my rod, but guessing it was just a ray.

I lost two rigs which were the first in a long time.  I switched to a circle hook and had my best bites, but never seem to do good using circles in the surf.

That was it.  Fun night chilling and watching a bunch of shooting stars.  Steve had the same results.  He even tied the baits on better with bait thread, but the thieves just stripped it to the bone where they could reach.

Lobster poachers were of course at the SMCA.  Really annoying when they aren't supposed to be there and then dive on your bait and ruin fishing for a while.

Someone get a grinner!  We are in that season!

You can't catch them from your computer chair.

Sums it up well. Poachers diving on your bait sounds annoying. Idk how responsive DFG is these days but that could be worth a call.

They don't respond to sh!t. Watched a guy on a pier keeping sub legal lobsters, I reported him to CalTip, and they never showed within the 3hrs I was there catching mackerel. What's point of the DFW??

Funny story.

A Co worker came in on a Monday after fishing oside pier over the weekend.  Said DFG busted a bunch of people. Regulars blamed a tall, bearded, white guy for calling them. He asked if it was me.

Nope. I don’t worry too much about pier shenanigans.
