Overnight on the Apollo 7/18
« on: July 20, 2015, 03:32:24 PM »
Our company was having its annual trip aboard the Apollo.

We left the marina at 9pm and picked up some bait.

There were I believe 25 of us, most of them got into there bunks and went to sleep while a couple of us stayed up in the galley.

We rigged up and got ready for the morning.

The morning came and the captain put us on this spot just outside of a ton of other boats.

We set out our baits and a couple guys tossed irons.

Wasn't long and the tuna began coming over the rail hitting the deck.

The bite was a pretty short window in the early am.

Sun came out and it was really slow. It was also nasty hot and humid out there.

Some were caught mid day..

Around 4pm came and it began pouring rain.

At this time the bite turned on. 2 guys hooked up followed by another..

I had my bait swim out about 60 yards from the boat and it got picked up.

Slid down the rail doing the under over thing and got it to color, gaffed and came over the rail  :)

Another look w/ my co worker kevin w/ his

That pretty much sums it up.

The guys tossing iron did well on the flat fall too.

We began heading back and got a cool dolphin show, tons of em by the boat jumping.

For the record this was my first offshore trip. All ive done in the passed was fish on a private boat near an oil rig tossing iron for WO cuda.

I learned a lot and this trip totally  got me hooked on the offshore stuff.

Gona pick up a couple more set ups by the end of this week which will run me about a grand lol.

Will be watching the boat counts closely as well, this is pretty much all the fishing I will be doing for the rest of the summer.

Looked like a great trip and congrats on the killer catch!

Right on Eric, glad you had a good time and got a nice one!
I've only been on one offshore trip myself.  Turned out similar to yours. I had a blast!
