The Summertime Catfish Contest has finally come to a close. Every summer, the surf shark fishing slows down due to people on the beaches, late light conditions, warmer water and probably some other things we haven’t figured out yet. Since we don’t discriminate against our Drinking Water fish when it comes to Prehistoric Soul, we had a Summertime Catfish Contest that lasted from Memorial Day to Labor Day. Heaviest catfish for the win and a bonus was a tape shot.
Well, EricH made his call and said he would win it at the beginning of this contest. Many of us have hit the cats hard this summer as it’s easy fishing and we don’t have to deal with all of the tourists cramming into the beach for almost 24 hours a day. Many nice cats were caught, but the 10.2 pound Channel Cat took the final prize with many cats being 5-9 pounds being recorded.
Well, congrats Eric! I thought I was going to get my triple digit Blue this year, but it wasn’t to be. I’ll probably catch it now the contest is over.
