Saltwater Boat Fishing Reports / Re: Point Loma Cyclops Adventure
« on: April 22, 2024, 07:14:36 PM »
That was one Red, RED!  Wow!  Nice catching!

Well done Boys and Girl!  How was the shoulder feeling?

BTW, the Yellows are in La Jolla big time, but lots of bait are making them hard to catch.  Might want to "eye" up a trip out there this week while they're in there this thick.  See what I did there?  :D

The shoulder was a little sore that evening and just a little today, so hopefully I'm out of the woods, now I need something with some weight to put it to a true test !!

Saltwater Boat Fishing Reports / Point Loma Cyclops Adventure
« on: April 22, 2024, 09:02:09 AM »
Well, haven't been out on The Cyclops since last September, then I had shoulder surgery and the weather went crazy. It was time to get the family out for a day on the water but there was resistance about the idea of open water. Janie and Max don't have their sea legs yet and they were worried about getting sick. I pumped them full of the pills and even had them wear the wristband that is supposed to eliminate all the queazy stuff, Here is the initial look !

Once Myles got a fish then Max was all in, then it was Game On  !!..... Yay !!

Saw the birds crashing bait with the dolphins, it was CHAOS !

Janie even got the Jackpot fish   LOL

We made a few more passes and scratched a variety of rockfish

Max decided he wasn't feeling like Aqua Man anymore so we had to leave them biting and headed into The Bay. Cruised around and took in some scenery and fished here and there but it was pretty busy for a Sunday and it was getting a bit chilly even though the sun briefly popped out, so we called it a day around 3pm

Hard to believe these two are 18 already (next month)

Back to the Launch Ramp

Got a nice variety, I am sure we would have Limited Out if Captain Queazy was up to it, oh well, great Family Time nonetheless !

Hope to get back out soon !

I was hoping they would drag their feet for a bit, guess not. Cyclops is getting wet tomorrow with Janie and the boys. Plan is to see if they want to go outside the Bay and try a spot or two but something tells me they will pull the ''I feel sick'' card and we will made it a Family Day inside  SD Bay. Doesn't really matter cause I haven't been in the salt since Sept. of last year. Weather looks nice regardless. Hope to have something to report.

Can never have enough Oak ! The days of swinging a Maul and a Wedge to split wood makes my body cringe these days, Log Splitters are a man's best friend. That's a nice retreat up in the Mountains for sure.

Bass are on the chew in Temecula and Santee, you are lucky Max and Myles don't have their Driver's License yet !!  Ha Ha  You sure are dialed in on that place, very cool !

BTW, what's with the emojis on here lately, they don't work ?

Love stories of big stripers. Do you ever head over to Silverwood? I've heard they have a hefty population of 40lb+ stripers, with the record being 55.

I haven't been there since the 1970's. Back when Moby d!ck was just a sardine !

I forgot to mention that right before we got to Lake Skinner last week, someone caught the Record Striper..... 33 Pounds. I was talking with one of the local fisherman that keeps his boat there and fishes the lake on a regular basis, he showed me a pic of the fish. The guy that caught it was in a canoe, can you imagine the sleigh ride ? The fish died and wasn't able to be released but I bet there are a few more Monsters in there, it's a good sized lake.
