Fishing Talk / Bat News

Rogers been catching them, but they are not in an area we should really be fishing until the evening and there are lots of obstacles around to navigate.  For the SD Crew, what time are you coming down?  I'll be fishing the surf in the morning if it allows me and will run to the bay in the afternoon.  Joe won't be able to lock down a fire ring this year, so would someone else be able to?  Keep me posted and let's get a plan together to bring home a sweet victory for SD this year!

The days of swinging a Maul and a Wedge to split wood makes my body cringe these days, Log Splitters are a man's best friend for sure.

At one point in my life I had two wants.................(1) a cement mixer and (2) a wood splitter.

That's a man's man right there!

The Red Crab are starting to show, it's going to get good.

None of the long-range boats have even spotted them which is not a great sign...  but Red Crab is a pretty good sign for some pelagics to move in.

33# for that lake is a really nice fish.  My PB was only 42, but that was an ocean fish.

I'm not 100% and feel something weird near the surgery site, but I think I'm about better.

My web guy is really dropping the ball.  I'll shoot him another call and text, but he hasn't responded to me in at least 6 months. I need to do something soon.

New garden is doing well.  Only issue is the birds and bugs eating the fresh shoots sprouting from the seeds.

I do have a fence now to keep out some of the bigger critters... hopefully.  If nothing, it at least looks nicer.  lol

Ed's wife (My old woodworking neighbor who passed away) gave me some California history.  Apparently, this was part of an old historic water tank that came down in central California.  He made some pieces out of it, but I decided to leave it as is and put a weathervane on it.  It looks good in the garden.

Well, I'll keep the p[ictures coming as it progresses.

Went up with a few buddies to collect wood on my wife's uncle property in Cuyamaca.  Did a lot of chainsawing, and filled up 3 trucks with fresh oak!

Everything was so green.  Lots of turkeys and deer also.

The manzanita was really looking good as after all the years of drought and fire took it's toll.

Bummed he's probably going to sell the property soon, but it's been a fun run.  He's asking too much for my wallet.

Not OSHA approved...

The gang

I have two piles of wood.  One for the fire rings and one for the smoker.  lol

This should hold me over for a few months.  Thanks for reading

Just a Place Holder until later....

Not much, but went down to the puddles on Saturday morning.  Lots of bass guys, but I just set out a few trout/cat rods.  Got another pond chicken.

Bass were busting up all over the place on little micro bait.  Looked like a shad spawn just happened.  I tied on a tiny swimbait...

...and on my second cast, scored! Absolutely gorgeous markings on it!

Then I was covered with bass guys.  I saw a 5# and a few 2.5# fish caught before I decided to leave the crowds.

I went to my tree spot and got another bass, albeit a smaller model.  Me trying to get some actions shots proved fruitless as he jumped, splashed me with nasty water and swam away.

This crayfish he spit up literally smelled like a turd!

I ran home for lunch and came back at the end of the day to totally different conditions.  Windy... Choppy Ponds... Tons of people.... and tons of fishermen...  I found an open spot and just cast and soaked for a bit.  I had two good bites, but neither stuck so I got the afternoon goose egg.  Still, I cant beat the proximity to the house.  lol

Oh, but the pm session wasn't a bust.  I did a quick little rock painting.  I actually did 2, but left the rough one at the lake for someone to find.

Thanks for reading!

I wish I knew you Back when I was digging up Carlsbad with my Excavator, we dug up some bones and they shut the job site down for a while to preserve a den of Prehistoric Saber Tooth Tiger fossils. It was pretty cool to see this first hand as the Paleontologist explained the scene to us and described this area as a spot where the tigers brought their kill......bones and skeletons everywhere !  Also found a Whale skeleton that was Millions of years old and watched them load it into a Semi Truck and haul it away piece by piece. Pretty cool Hobby to have if you know what to look for and you obviously do, Bravo and keep searching !

This is just mean telling me this.  My giant cretaceous ammonite site is now under condos probably because of you.  LOL

(I would have been there in a minute if you called!)  LOL
