The Beach Fire (12/3)
« on: December 05, 2016, 05:53:49 AM »
Well Steve and I hit the surf to see what we could see.  Conditions were very nice, with a little bit of salad attaching to our lines, but would fall off rather quickly and easily.  The fish was another matter.  We fished for 4 hours with only one discernible bite.  Good thing Squatch lugged down the fire ring as having a fire on the beach made the evening an enjoyable one.

Man, this dead zone has been killing everyone.  Every time I think it is starting to turn back on, everything goes quiet again.  Has anyone else been getting out?  Any critter bites or anything out there?

Well, that was that.  Hopefully the next shark session goes a little better.

Conditions were about as good as you can expect. It was even warmer than I thought it was going to be. Even busted out some special bait and my secret weapon, but no love. Maybe one eel bite, but that was it.

My flu has passed, so hoping to hit the surf soon. Not looking forward to the cold temps though!! What general area are we allowed to bring our own fire? That would definitely make it an easier endeavor.

Any non-state park beach.   ;)

The wind forecast for Saturday AM scared us off the Big Pond, so we opted for a nighttime session on the Back Bay. Got there a couple of hours before sundown, settled in with some hard ciders and started the chum slick. Absolutely no signs of life, until after dark. Then around 7:30 after the tide turned, we got a runner. Put a 40" on the sand, followed by a 18" 20 minutes later and then a 31" model about 20 minutes after that. And that was it.

Out of adult beverages we called it at 9:15 and headed for some tacos 8)

Anybody have an emergency beer?

How about wood fires and portable rings?

Nothing to report up here either. The past 6 months have been nothing but salad. Even the harbor isn't producing Bats.
