I was supposed to be at a horse show this weekend so I asked for days off. We canceled the horse show, but instead of canceling the days off, I made a road trip to see my folks up in Pismo Beach area.
Hung out for awhile then decided to go check out a spot I like to fish.
I stopped at one beach and put three handfuls of sand into the strainer. When I washed the sand away, I was able to pick and choose a limit of crabs, and discard at least another limit and a half.
Took the crabs to my spot and looked over the cliff. More people than I have ever seen on the beach. Still plenty of room to fish, so down I went.
I allowed myself 10 crabs for the short session.
The 10 crabs resulted in 3 missed hits, 2 pulled hooks, and 5 fish. Not bad. Plus there was some good scenery.

Went back to the folks for dinner and beers, got up, and headed back down for an early session.
Fishing was much slower this morning, but I did get some nice perch and a random junior rockfish, maybe a cabazon, but I don't see many of them so maybe not.

One of my favorite things about this spot is that I regularly see a pair of sea otters in the surf. Feeding, frolicing, ottering of all manner. Its pretty cool. This was as close as I have ever seen them come in, but they still are tiny in the pic.

Thats them in the wave on the inside of the surfers.
Might just get out for an afternoon fishing and scenery session later.
