With the lack of Bats in the bay lately, decided to check a known bat producing beach. Dave (WMB) joined me hour before sunset. Rising tide had us perched up against the rocks.
Moved around a bit as the tide rose, as night fell we settled in and put out some primo baits. Dave got a knock down on a mack chunk but it didn't commit. I switched out my mack head for a tail and launched it into the abyss. Sent up a smoke signal and saw my rod get thumped, grabbed it felt another thump and line began to peel off still on clicker. Knew it was a fish, cranked down and had to crank half dozen cranks to catch up and laid into him! Definitely not a bat! Kinda felt like I was reefed but then the reef pulled back and began herky jerkin and slapping my line, never felt anything like it, seaweed with an attitude lol until it's belly hit bottom in the skinny and I got to watch dave do the 7gill dance as he dragged in what is now my biggest fish of my life!

That's pretty much the only good pic we got of him, between the mist and the heat of the moment it was chaos to say the least. LOL!
So I'm high on life, can't even see straight. Dave rebaited and gets back out, I do the same 15 or so mins later. Weeds make us recast few times, I get another pick up but farm/miss the hook set. 15mins after that bite Dave gets another 7like bite again and makes it count! Fights it into the skinny and I can see its another nice 7! My 1st chance to tail one, get to it and it's all wrapped up in his 80lb leader! I tail it and start unwrapping it. I noticed he had some love bites on him!
Since dave didn't care about a glory shot, I took some business end shots with his fish, since I kept mine outta the water a lil longer than I wanted to.
Measure shot so tom doesn't question Daves fish's credibility lmfao!
We soaked another bait and called it a night, since we both were hungry and got what we came for, kinda, hopefully we get lucky and find a bat or two Saturday sometime....
