Pre-fishing for the Bat Fight (4/4)
« on: April 05, 2021, 06:23:41 AM »
Steve and I actually got out to do a little morning session before all of the Easter festivities.  Well, since I'm stuck with a 5lb weight limit, it was little rod fishing.

It started off as a pretty hot bite.  I'm a bit rusty and lost quite a few, but there was steady action.  Steve kicks it all off with a YFC and follows it up with a screamer Bat!  Funny how a small bat makes an 8# set up sing like it's no one's business.

I was fishing in some bat rays womb, as I caught a tiny one, but took a proper picture to make it look bigger.  Even that didn't work as you can see what a baby it was.  LOL

Steve got another YFC and had the hot sticks as he was double and triple d!cking it at times where I could only deal with my one rod.  lol

We both got a bass before the tide slowed down and the bite came to an absolute halt.

With the bite stopping and the bay filling up with the Easter crowds, it was time to go.  Fun times as usual and it was a lot of fun fishing the SW again after just trout fishing the past month.
Hopefully this is a good sign to come.

Total:
3 bats
2 bass
2 croaker
1 almost needlefish
5 farmed something or others.
You can't catch them from your computer chair.

Awesome to see you two on the sand, glad your shoulder is improving.  Theresa, myself and my dad rented a skiff out of Newport for Easter Sunday.  We caught barracuda, WSB, spotties, halibut and a couple sandies.  This is the first time in a year the receiver had anchovies, made all the difference in the world as far as hook up ratio, sardines kept getting short bit.  See you tomorrow Tom   ;)

Nice session, come to think of it you should soak the 8# on bay night, that’s probably gonna be SD’s big ray! ;D

Sounds like a nice variety, Verne!
