Quiet July
« on: July 09, 2015, 06:16:08 AM »
Well, 9 days into July already and things are pretty quiet.  I've gone out a few times and only seemed to get rays including some weird looking round rays.  They are bigger than your usual round ray, have bigger markings and a MUCH bigger barb.  Not sure if they are just mature RR's or maybe something new?  Steve has gone out 2x as many times as I have and has had much of the same luck.  Conditions in the surf seem to be improving, so I was wondering if anyone was getting out at all?  Have any of you guys got out, but not caught much so therefore no report?

Just wondering as I have my fingers crossed we see an exotic here in the surf soon.  We can't catch them watching Sharkfest, so just checking if people have been at least putting any surf time in...
You can't catch them from your computer chair.

I hit up the VC 7 spot the last 2 weekends for nothin but constant salad and kelp. I'm gonna try again on sat. The last couple weeks, the period has been 4-5 secs. I'm hoping since this week it seems to slow down a lot with more 15 sec sets, that maybe their will be less weeds.

Jerry and I were out last Thursday and nothing special. He got a small Leo and I got a few various species, guitarfish, croaker, tiny leo, thornback, and tiny smoothhound on my backup bait rod. Nothing on the long rod

Good tide, low salad, and possible grunion run but a slow night.

Gonna try again next Thursday.

I'm coughing  :(

STILL!?
I finished the antibiotics from my walking pneumonia 2 weeks ago and I'm still coughing up some phlegm here and there, but it's mostly gone and I'm feeling pretty good.
Maybe you need a second opinion man?

I'm out once or twice a week. Lots of solo seshes since Binh's leash is quite short. If I have something to report, I usually do. Gonna try to go tonight.

Went out last Saturday for some 7s. Ron knows the woes, lot's and lots of kelp. I managed a 10lb Bat Ray, then we went to the harbor and my buddy managed a 45incher. It was slow, and my camera took too much sand so there was no report. Plus given my name I prefer to only post grinners  ::)!
